Because of my struggle with hormonal acne, I get a LOT of questions regarding acne. So I'm diving into a little more detail- all things acne
If acne isn't a concern for you, just scroll! There's plenty of suggestions for your skin too!

We’ve all been affected by acne at some point. I know just how stressful, frustrating, and debilitating it can be. However, I’ve found that once you understand acne physiologically, it can have less power over you. It’s a condition, it doesn’t define your worth! This guide will not only help you to correctly identify acne, it’ll help you strategize treating current breakouts and prevent new ones, too!
What is Acne?
By definition, acne is the occurrence of inflamed or infected sebaceous glands in the skin; in particular, a condition characterized by red pimples on the face.
Acne can come in many forms. It’s so important to know how to identify what kind of acne you’re dealing with. Below I’ve listed various types of acne:
Whitehead – a pale or white-topped plug of sebum in a pore under the skin
Blackhead – plug of sebum in a pore, open to the surface of the skin, darkened by oxidation
Papule – a small, raised, solid pimple or swelling (not always pus producing)
Pustule – a small blister or pimple on the skin containing pus
Cyst – pus-filled lumps beneath the surface of the skin, involving more than one pore
Treating Acne
Do not pick or pop your current acne! I know it can be tempting, but this is how scarring and spreading occurs. Plus, the bacteria from your hands can make your acne worse. Reducing inflammation through diet is extremely important. It can take over two weeks for your skin to reflect the positive diet improvements so be patient loves. Be sure to read over the Nutrion Guide closely to truly support your skin from the inside
Prevention
There are many ways to prevent acne from occurring. Among the most important are having a consistent skincare routine, and limiting pore-clogging products and makeup. Treatment products can also do wonders in preventing skin inflammation. Keep reading for treatment options best suited for your skin type.
You’re Beautiful. No Matter What
Self-love is important, and I know acne can make it so difficult to look in the mirror and truly love what’s reflected. I want to remind you loves that no matter what our skin looks like, you are beautiful and valuable! I hope this post helps you in your journey of overcoming acne.
Skin Care Basics
Avoid hot water: Splashing your face with hot water is one of the top contributors of aging. It’s also extremely drying. Don’t wash your face with a temp any warmer than you’d wash your baby with
Eat to glow: Eat your Omega 3’s from fatty fish, salmon & sardines, your seeds, including chia & hemp. This keeps your skin glowing. Eat your vitamin C to increase skin elasticity & protect against free radical damage. Collagen is also great for those same reasons Don’t touch your face: Not only are you clogging your pores, but you’re introducing bacteria to your mucous membranes (mouth, nose, and eyes) which puts you at higher risk for getting sick, too
Wash your pillowcase weekly: between your hair buildup & oil secretion from your face, not to mention if you sleep with your hands near your face, that’s a ton of bacteria
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
Moisturize: keeping your skin properly hydrated & protected from the sun are probably the best anti-aging mechanisms out there
Tone & treat: for someone who doesn’t have a set skincare routine, they usually settle for just a face wash & moisturizer. However, your skin is missing out on SO MANY BENEFITS with the added steps of toning & treating your skin, with either a serum or peel prior to moisturizing. This is where you can really tune in to your specific skin type to reap the most benefits
Below I’m breaking down the products that will give YOU the best results, based on your skin type
If you have normal to dry skin:
Beautycounter's Countermatch Regimen would be great for you: This line works by adapting to your skins needed level of moisture, leaving your hydrated, but never greasy

1. Cleanse with the Pure Calm Cleansing Milk 2. Treat with the Intense Moisture Serum if you’re very dry 3. Moisturize with the Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion (Daytime) and the Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream (Nighttime) If you have acne prone & oily skin:

Moisturize with the Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream in AM and Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream (Nighttime)- The Countercontrol line can be very drying. This is why I recommend adding some deep hydration overnight. The Countertime line has advanced resurfacing properties, so it increases cell turnover, assisting in ridding skin of active acne and acne scarring

AM:

2. The No. 1 Brightening Oil helps to improve skin’s radiance with omega-rich oils, increases hydration, and brighten/even skin tone with it’s Vitamin C and antioxidant blend. This oil is also great at reducing sun spots and acne scarring

3. And I can’t leave this information here without including the miracle product, the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel

Almost everyone can benefit from this product. This leave-on treatment boosts skin’s radiance while you sleep so you wake to softer, smoother, brighter skin. Use 2-3x per week after cleansing. Let it sink about for 5 minutes, and lock in with your moisturizer.
