DIY Family Flinstone Halloween Costumes

Halloween has become one of my favorite holidays- well the whole month of October! I just love apple picking, pumpkin patches, the fall decor & smells, the fall clothes, both for myself and for baby girl; I just LOVE fall!

Anyway, as much as I love Halloween, it's really just ONE night, so spending a crazy amount of money on a costume that you'll only wear once seems like such a waste! So I'm sharing how we made our family halloween costumes for just $13 worth of material.

Let me start off by saying that Pebbles was NOT homemade. I'm slightly Esty obsessed since having baby girl, and when the price was right (just $25) I went ahead and took the plunge! I can include how easy it would be to make a pebbles costume too, though!

Here's what you'll need to buy

- Oversized orange T-shirt- Michaels has shirts for $3, but google for a coupon too! I got 20% off my whole purchase

- Oversized white T-shirt

- Blue T-shirt

- Green T-shirt (if making pebbles)

- 3 pieces of 8x11 black felt

- Fabric glue

- White styrofoam balls (or ping pong balls)

- An old chain or some thin metal wiring

- Safety pins

For Fred-

Cut the sleeves off the Orange tee. Then cut along the collar too so it's a looser looking fit. Cut out some triangles from the black felt and glue them on the front of the shirt.

For the tie- Simply cut the collar so it's loose, then cut the lines to resemble a jagged cut tie, just like Fred's!

For Wilma

Place the white t-shirt on. Using a black marker, draw where you want the one shoulder to lie, and how low you want to cut the tee across your chest.

After you've made the cuts you want, place the shirt back on and safety pin the sides together- this will give you more of a fitted look versus wearing basically a blanket! Haha

For the necklace- I just the styrofoam balls because the metal wiring feeds right through them! SO easy.

If you choose to make a pebbles costume, simply buy a larger green t-shirt. Place a tee that fits your baby or toddler loosely and place it overtop the green shirt. Cut the green shirt so that the size is about her size. Then, simply glue more black felt triangles onto the shirt!
