Gym-timidation

Have you ever suffered from from "gym-timidation?" You don't have to admit to it, but I'm sure most of you have.. Heck, I just joined a new gym myself and I've been nervous to go without my hubby there with me! I'm here to tell you that 1) it gets better with time and 2) there are some tricks to make it easier!
So I want you to remember a few key points..
1) Not everyone is looking at you like you might think- No one knows it's one of your first times in a gym. They don't know who you are, what you're doing there, what your fitness background is or isn't, and quite frankly, they don't care because they're focused on THEIR workout
2) You DESERVE to be there- if you are in the gym working to better yourself in some way, you deserve to be there. Beginner or veteran, your workout is just as important as every single other persons' in there.
3) Go in with a plan! I certainly hope you have been utilizing the workouts I have created for you. Before each workout, go online and YouTube how to do the exercise you are not familiar with. If you're stepping foot in a new gym, hop a cardio machine in the back where you can oversee the layout of the gym. Take that warm-up to scope out the machines & free weights you want to utilize so you know exactly where to go.
4) Feel free to laugh at yourself! I still make mistakes in the gym all the time. I've got myself in the face attempting to do plate curls. I've set the weight wayyyy too high that I couldn't even budge it. Laugh it off and move on! Everyone in there has made mistakes, and will continue to make mistakes as they incorporate new exercises and increase their weight
5) Bring a friend! If you're THAT nervous to step foot into a gym, ask a friend to come along. Even if they're not as dedicated to this fitness journey as you, chances are they'd be happy to spend time with you and support you. Who knows, maybe they'll see the results and become your permanent workout buddy thanks to your push!
6) The booty squeeze... I, personally, embrace the booty squeeze, meaning squeezing the heck out of my glutes at the top of EVERY contraction! This is how you activate your glutes, tear the muscle fibers, and GROW YOUR BOOTY! But, we all know that squeeze creates an "ugly" butt, so if this is something your self-conscious about, tie a light jacket around your waist while performing these movements!
If you have access to a gym and the only thing holding you back is your own intimidation, I encourage you to follow these tips, step out of your comfort zone, because that's where great things happen 🤗
